Recent Studies in Herpes Vaccines Disappointing

Researchers across the world have been trying to develop a herpes vaccine for many years. In addition to helping so many people, a herpes vaccine would be incredibly profitable for the pharmaceutical industry.
What is clear is that a herpes vaccine - either for prevention or for treatment - does not seem any closer to reality today as it was 30+ years ago when Skinner was doing his landmark efforts in England. It honestly seems that the more we study the cells of the body, the more complex it seems to be to create a herpes vaccine. Herpes simplex is a DNA virus, living inside of the nucleus of the cells of the body, especially inside of the nerve cells. It is not at all clear how to "pull the virus out". It is also not yet clear how to stimulate the immune system of the body to prevent the virus from coming out of the infected cells. Therein lies the challenge.
However, I think that it is a good idea to review some of the literature from time to time to see "what's up" as regards efforts to make a vaccine. I am including a few articles for your reading interest, and I will add more from time to time.
