We're glad you found us. This is Herpes.Org. Here you will find lots of information about Herpes and Internet resources, with a focus on Advocacy and information sharing. You will find LOTS of information here, and we are always adding to it. This is a website with lots of information about herpes and related issues. We also have information on HPV, or "human papillomavirus.

If you just got herpes, please know that you're not alone.  About 20% of the population has genital herpes, and between 80% and 90% has oral herpes (cold sores).

The thing to do is to NOT PANIC! It may sound strange, but having herpes really isn't that bad.  It will never kill you, and except for certain very isolated cases concerning pregnancy, it is rarely dangerous.  Also, we have created ANTOPIA, a social site of some twenty thousand men and women with herpes and/or HPV, looking for each other.

But, you must understand that as of now, no cure for herpes exists, and so you have to learn to live with it. Information on these pages will help you to do that.

Before we proceed, let me tell you that both on the Internet and in the real world, all sorts of resources about herpes are available for you.  Most people discover that one avenue or resource works best for them, so you need to explore things slowly. Take your understanding and treatment slowly, and don't jump to using unproved cures and treatments. If some vendor announces that its product will "cure" herpes, be very skeptical of this statement. No cures for herpes exists.
